Jose Mesa has more than 15 years of experience in venture investments in the biotechnology field. He has led multiple venture capital rounds and has served on the boards of some of the country’s most promising companies in the biotech sector, such as Sanifit, Minoryx, Aelix in therapeutics, Stat-Dx, DeepUll in diagnostics and the medical technology company, Medlumics.
He started his career in the business development department of Genzyme and in the Genoma España Technology Transfer program. Until 2019 he led the Life Sciences area of Caixa Capital Risc, the venture capital arm of CriteriaCaixa, managing more than 100 million euros to invest in biotech companies. Subsequently, he was a partner at Alta Life Sciences, a venture capital investment firm in biotechnology and medical technologies based in Barcelona.
He holds a MSc in Genetics from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid (2001) and a MSc in Corporate Finance from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid (2005). He also holds an MBA (2003) and an Executive Programme (PDD-2011) from IESE Business School.
